Sage Bionetworks is located is Seattle’s South Lake Union area which has become a center for biomedical research (such as Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, University of Washington, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Zymogenetics), global health (such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Program in Appropriate Technology for Health, Strategic Biomedical Research Institute) and e-commerce (Amazon). Seattle is also home to major information technology corporations (Microsoft, RealNetworks), numerous biotech companies, pharma affiliates, as well as Boeing and Weyerhaeuser.

Seattle History

Born as a transportation hub in the nineteenth century and growing through an era dominated by forestry and aerospace, Seattle has developed into a diversified, exciting and livable cosmopolitan city that retains exceptional access to unique marine and mountain natural resources.

Seattle has a wonderful array of neighborhoods with distinct personalities offering affordable lifestyles ranging from urban high-rise apartments and townhomes near busy nightclubs and restaurants to restored homes on tree lined streets within walking distance of neighborhood bistros and coffee shops to quiet suburban and rural properties. Seattle has a vibrant arts and sports scene with many of the museum, theatre, dance, music, film and gallery opportunities close to South Lake Union.

Plentiful opportunities for boating, mountaineering, cycling, skiing and camping coupled with a mild temperate maritime climate make it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts.
